Madras Town News Notes Residents and Visitors
Madras shares a bustling roster of visitors and locals. Far familiar names like Archie McDowell and Hart family appear among land entries, threshing outfits, and plans to relocate to nearby towns. Businesses and farms, including Madras oil interests and a Crown drilling rig, drive the week’s activity as residents return from Shaniko, Portland, and Hood River.
Principal of School Elected at Madras District
The Madras school district directors chose Prof W. R Cook as principal for the coming year. Other department teachers will be elected at an early board meeting. Cook, who taught in the intermediate grades last year, has wide teaching experience and was praised by school patrons. He will attend the Western division meeting of the State Teachers Association in Albany on June 28.
