Inspecting Crooked River Bridge Site in Culver

County Judge H C Ellis and Commissioner R H Bayley visited Culver last week to review bridge and road work needed to cross the Crooked and Deschutes rivers at the Cove. The issue drew heavy discussion at the county court meeting and may be decided soon to provide a direct crossing to the west side of the Deschutes River. Convict labor in construction of the grades has been considered.

Metolius Man Wins $100 Judgment Against Wible

W L Carter of Metolius obtains a $100 judgment against Perry Wible in Judge Jack son s court on Monday. Carter said he helped sell property in Metolius under an oral deal for a 5 percent commission if the sale occurred. He plans to appeal.

Rabbits Killed in Saturday Drive Near Metolius

About 800 rabbits were slain in a rabbit drive at Barney Cummings place east of Metolius on Saturday. Ranchers from south and east of Madras and local business people joined roughly sixty participants to drive rabbits into a corral near the house. The first drive near Willow Creek netted about 350, with a second pass pushing total beyond 700. some stragglers were shot as they broke lines.

Ralph Buckwalter I F Shu Ed Mason and Joe Beddingfield plus wife left Madras Tuesday for Summer Lake. Buckwalter plans to file a land claim and reside there. The party expects to establish homes and aid in reclaiming artesian lands, forming a Madras linked community in the valley.

Madras City Council Grants Pool Halls License

The Madras Common Council approved an ordinance licensing pool halls and banning minors from games of chance in pool rooms and cigar stands. The body also authorized Pearce to secure 500 for fire hose carts and nozzles and up to 800 for water system plan extras. About fifteen city claims were approved, and a proposal to fund a new council chamber and jail was carried. The Fire and Water Commission members were announced, with the next meeting set for February 2.

Miss Nellie Farrell and H Leslie Priday wed at Trout Creek home

Miss Nellie Farrell and H Leslie Priday were married at the bride’s father’s house near Youngs Thursday at 2 o’clock by Rev John J Pacey. The couple planned a California honey moon with a small group of friends. Delays from the mail service caused late arrival of party members but the ceremony proceeded as bells rang and best wishes were shared.
