Move to open Oregon Trunk line right of way defies interior department
Portland business leaders in alliance with the chamber of commerce plan to petition the interior secretary to grant the Oregon Trunk Line right of way into Crook County and to withdraw the reclamation service filing at the Deschutes mouth. Officials say the action would unlock Central Oregon’s vast timber irrigation and mineral wealth and spur settlement and development despite five year delays.

Shepherd Hanged for Crook County Murder in Oregon
Fred A. Shepherd was hanged at the Oregon state penitentiary for the September murder of Ben Zell in Crook County. The execution, one of the swiftest in state history, followed a trial in which insanity was rejected by three doctors. He confessed briefly, remained unflinching, and a photo was later taken for his mother. Father Moore led Roman Catholic rites before about 50 witnesses.

Mass Meeting Called for Agency Plains Delegate
A mass meeting of settlers on Agency Plains and others interested is called to meet at the Agency Plains schoolhouse Monday night December 17, 1906.
