Governor mulls a special session to lift embargoes from courts during holidays and to amend Oregon's attachment and holiday laws. Lawmakers aim to repeal or suspend the harsh attachment statute, tighten banking rules, and conclude business swiftly if convened.
Oregon’s Sheep Inspector Lytle seeks farmer unity in a January drive to exterminate coyotes. Farmers will poison carcasses and set traps, muzzling dogs to avoid poison, with aims to curb losses estimated at 500000 dollars yearly from coyote predation.
Winnie May Kidder and Laurence A. Hunt wed Thursday evening November 28 at the Kidder residence south of Madras. The ceremony was performed beneath an arch of white and gold with Miss Ethel Kidder as maid of honor and Mr. Robert Galloway as best man. The couple received numerous gifts and left for a new home near Madras.
The fine thoroughbred Belgian stallion Brilliant Dy Aubremee owned by Haystack Livestock Breeder's Association died last week of pneumonia. He won the blue ribbon at Prineville County Fair this year and was valued at about $3500. The Tinystock Livestock Breeders Association mourns a heavy loss as one of the state’s best bred animals.
The Mount Hood Railway and Power Co faces a two month delay as legal holidays halt condemnations on disputed right of way. Of 11 miles graded, work stops at week end with 400 workers and 300 teams laid off. A federal arbitration-like commission is suggested to speed property valuation and progress.
Dufur Dispatch changes hands with Du r editor Shepher of Tygh Valley Bee purchasing the Dufur Dispatch from Olyintes I Reed. The two newspaper plants will consolidate at Dufur around year end. The Hee will cease after January 1. Former editor Teat suffered a severe stroke and is bedridden in Dufur.
Settlers on Agency Plains petition the bounty court for a new road beginning at the northeast corner of section 34 township 10 range 18. The proposed one mile route would connect to the main Madras Don FP road, providing an outlet to settlers west of the grade.
