The circular from the Indiana Bureau of Statistics based on township trustees data shows 115,465 dogs registered since the new law. There remain 9,958 unregistered dogs and 7,958 have been killed by state constables up to July 1. At 50 cents per head, the cost of culling totals 3,876 dollars.

In San Francisco Maj. J J Duncan of Vallejo bought two boxes of cigars and sent one to Lieut. De Long and one to engineer Melville with Dr. Jones for safekeeping. After Rodgers was burned the cigars were saved and later to be forwarded to Melville with a brief travel history.
