Tragic Newport kerosene lamp blast claims Mrs Scott

Mrs Lydia Scott of Newport Rhode Island was fatally burned when a kerosene lamp exploded. She cried for help as flames enveloped her. A domestic who had the infant in her arms dropped the infant to seek aid and flames were smothered by a Fort Adams soldier’s coat. Mrs Scott died at ten thirty in the evening. the six week old infant survived.
