Three Die as Northwestern Train Derails in Washout
A fast westbound Chicago and North Western passenger train No 7 known as the Los Angeles Limited derailed one and a half miles west of Belle Plaine Iowa after a washout in a heavy rainstorm. Engineer Thomas Lea and Fireman John Johnson of Clinton and Thomas McConnell, a stowaway on the baggage car, were killed. Passengers were shaken but none seriously hurt.
