Lightning Strikes Geo Rice Residence in Storm
During a morning electrical storm residents nearby heard a loud crack as lightning struck Geo Rice at 226 East Washington. The bolt damaged roof shingles but caused no major harm. Rice and his niece Hattie Haskett were shocked but unharmed. A wire at Mrs Mary Hanson’s on South Dudley burned and shock followed. Court house lights flickered and sparks flew from a typesetting machine in the By Stander shop.
