County Picnic Brings Farmers and Townspeople Together

Macomb fair grounds host a county bureau picnic next Saturday September 1 with a farm versus town day program. Activities begin at 9:30 am including a novel township representative baseball game, talks by IL Thompson of vy and W F Schilling of Minnesota, and music. Officials from Adams County Agricultural Bureau and Minnesota potato and grain circles attend.

Augusta Man in Face Burning Battery Acid Accident

Clyde Pierce of a Huntsville area farm suffered a severe acid burn when a battery was filled and a match struck. He was taken to Dr Earl Coop ers hospital in Augusta for treatment to save his sight. He said he had done it before with no result.

1157 Pupils in City's Schools Across Four Wards

The city schools opened with 1157 pupils enrolled across four wards and junior high and senior high sections. Congestion appears only in the senior high where enrollment is up twenty percent to 309, prompting discussion of staffing and space needs.

Landis Cuts Pay for Building Trades Workers

Judge Landis handed down an arbitration decision in Chicago reducing wages and establishing new working rules for about 50,000 building trades workers. Top rates set at 1.12 for fire proofers and 1.10 for bricklayers, versus prior 1.25 hourly rates, expanding access for contracting firms across the Chicago territory.

Miss Vera Graham arrived in Saganaw Michigan to teach this year following a year at Maceemb high school. Her mother Mrs H A Graham left on Sunday for Canada to visit with her son Lester and wife. Mr Graham has been in Canada aiding in harvest duties for several weeks.
