The Democratic National Headquarters announced a $25,000 prize offered by the Pro League Independents for any Senator or official who can prove the League of Nations would abridge American sovereignty. The potential challengers named include Harding Johnson Borah Lodge and Will Hays.
Chicago Oct 15 Frank Zager condemned for killing two men in a robbery was executed at 8 17 this morning on the same gallows used yesterday. Others scheduled for execution were saved temporarily by reprieves and stays.
Payment on the 500 million dollar Anglo French loan that matured today began at J P Morgan’s banking house where the loan was underwritten in 1915. Mrs Kate Hughes of Battle Creek Michigan and Mrs Lora Hughes of Pasadena California with others visited Macomb friends yesterday.

Mr and Mrs A H Stephens and Mrs Louisa Cassidy hosted friends on East Carroll Street in honor of Ly sander Cassidy of Berkeley California visiting for a short time. Guests arrived from Table Grove and Vermont.
Members of the Normal school varsity football team met Eureka college squad at Eureka today in the opener of the season. Eureka is reported as a strong opponent and locals are in good fighting trim. Results and full particulars will be provided Saturday.
Frank Young of Prairie sold 20 acres to David Wilhelm for 11000 dollars. The property includes part known as the Rev Thos Dodge place with an improved site featuring a good dwelling and cisfr land access.
Miss Lela Elting departed for Excelsior Springs Missouri where she will spend the winter season.
The Slicers and Pullers golf contest runs to Sunday night at the Country club with over forty matches planned and twenty already completed. Captains push participants as Pullers lead 20 to 23 and remaining games decide final standings.
Funeral services for Victor Anderson of St. Paul Minn will be held at the Martin chapel Saturday at 2 30 p m with interment in Oakwood Cemetery The body arrived on the noon train today James Richard Davis born August 25 1865 died October 14 1920 near Colchester aged 55 years 1 month and 19 days He is survived by siblings and was a member of the Christian church at Colchester Funeral services at New Salem church Saturday at 3 p m Interment Oakwood Her sister Gene Neagle of Bushnell injured in an auto collision in Rock Island arm bruised violin broken in the incident
Maxine Kennett, young daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Kennett of Colchester, is slightly improved after injuries suffered Wednesday evening when struck by a mule while under treatment for prior injuries.
Eleven Rotarians from this city left this morning for Champaign to attend the inter city Rotary meeting. A banquet will feature hundreds of Rotarians from many cities. The Macomb delegation will also attend the local football game.
Nellie Champ and others visited Galesburg for an institute. CE Zimmerman shipped hogs to Chicago. George Bros. received cattle from Kansas City, Lee McCline tracked stock imports, Arthur Knight of Macomb visited. Mrs Hoar and Chrystelle visited Kewanee. Mrs Freer and two sons went to Peoria. Mrs Greenbank, Mrs Hale and Grace McClintock were Macomb callers this afternoon.
Not less than four score of teachers from this city and surrounding areas left for Galesburg to attend a teachers meeting. Schools were dismissed to allow departure. Extra coaches aided the train to carry those picked up along the line. Max Gould, visiting from Cleveland, suffered a shoulder fracture after an incident at the Cleveland home and will stay there until healed.
The Upham family relocates to Rock Island where Clara Upham will teach this year. They shipped their household goods in Henry Hare's truck which became stuck eighteen miles from the destination.
Mr and Mrs George Cusie of Orton Kansas were guests of honor at a house party at the Prairie City cottage on Spoon river last Sunday. Mr and Mrs Fred Emory, visiting the Cusies, acted as hosts. About 40 guests attended.
Lombard at Monmouth Galesburg will play Monmouth College at Monmouth Saturday October 16. The game pits Lombard against Monmouth with venue set in Monmouth as part of the college schedule.
Macomb High and Table Grove meet tomorrow in what promises to be a fiercely contested game. Two Macomb regulars will be out, Archie Motter to referee, Buck Wright among standout Macomb players, and a large crowd expected if weather cooperates.
