Macomb residents press to reduce water charges for hospitals and secure a larger reservoir to ensure adequate supply during emergencies. City committee discusses building a new container and limits on water use, with plans for a small reservoir and possible aeration, amid debate over tax and open access.
Hospitals including Princeton Canton and Sterling are listed among those that levy charges to hospitals.

In Peoria Illinois Washington C Hines son of Sheriff Lewis Hines and Rolla McFarland were arrested after a raid on a Monte Carlo setup near the mile track at the National Swine and Implement show grounds. Officials said slot machines roulette whiskey and poker chips were in use. A dispute with State's Attorney Galbraith and Sheriff Hines was anticipated over deputy sheriff commissions following the raid.

Rockford scene reports Sheriff Harry Baldwin of Winnebago county seriously hurt in a rollover crash on the Lincoln Highway east of Rochelle. His wife and sister and two Rockford couples were injured when their car collided with another vehicle returning from Chicago.
