A local industry report indicates Amerie Steel Products plans to hire about 100 men after the New Year as part of a factory expansion driven by rising demand. Production and employment are expected to rise through next year, with additional schedules and potential 10 percent increases in output as markets recover.

State highway engineers led by Bonderer advance preparations for a northern Macomb to Good Hope road. They review surveys and right of way lines, file deeds ready for property owners to sign, and expect minimal opposition aside from the Gesler farm.

Illinois shut out Ohio State 7 0 while Wisconsin fell 3 0 to Chicago. Michigan overwhelmed Minnesota 388 0 and Indiana defeated Purdue 8 0. Notre Dame beat Marquette 21 7. Harvard edged Yale 10 3. Ventre defeated Washington and Iowa 25 14 as Northwestern lost 0.
Special delivery letter from Henry reports the baby of Mr and Mrs Robi Bruns seriously ill in this city. The mother is Kathryn Woorly formerly of this city.

Bardolph Community High School hoops pageantry continues as Bardolph Tossers win games. Friday at Good Slope the visitors defeated 82 to 16. Saturday at Bardolph the home team beat Adair 13 to 1.
Macomb high school defeated Alexis high at the fairgrounds 13 to 7 despite many players wearing kid gloves to keep snow off hands. An 85 yard fumble return by Wickson secured Alexis’ lone score as coach Wilson urged caution to protect key ground gains.

French Prime Minister Briand asserts German militarism persists despite Allied efforts. He warns of ongoing threats from German aggression and calls for vigilance and unity among Allies.
British leader Arthur J. Balfour pledged Great Britain’s support to France amid calls for balance of power at the arms conference. French Premier Briand warned against disarmament while Germany’s arsenal could rapidly rise to six or seven million with current plans noted.
“Things are looking good for a fine meeting tomorrow,” said R C Donoghue, McDonough county farm adviser, of the owners and tenants session to be held in the circuit court room. Representatives of farm publications expect to attend as parties seek a definite agreement on tenant farm management after separate committee sessions.
