David Knight heard intruders at his Arthur Knight farm home three miles south of here early Sunday morning. A shot fired drove the thieves away, and they fled in a buggy.
New York November 2 Senator Randell of Louisiana said Americans aid foreign competition by “best efforts” contracts with railroads to secure freight for foreign shipping companies. He cited nearly twenty railroad contracts filed with the Interstate Commerce Commission as evidence of the practice crippling the American merchant marine and aiding foreign trade.

Indiana reports show about 20,000 miners idle across 300 mines amid walkouts and union warnings.
