Residents endured harrowing hours as a cloudburst washed out roads and flooded farms near La Junta and Pueblo. Mr. Sullivan, his wife Mrs Sullivan, and their children faced rising waters and a collapsed barn, finally reaching safety after the torrent damaged property and cut access for days. Nearby farms and roads suffered extensive washouts while residents sheltered and searched for lost belongings.

Three newly elected Ninth district judges plan to begin work next week in Lewiston Knox Cock county and Hancock counties. Judge George C Hillyer will hold court in Lewiston starting Monday and stay through the term. Judge Walter C Frang will open in Knox county on Monday June 20 and likely remain there. Judge W F Graham will start June 25 for a brief session then move to Carthage for Hancock county circuit court.
