A large crowd attended last evening for the Rebekah installation ceremony with Mrs. If. L. Sapp and Mrs. R. D. Lyons presiding as installing officers. Officers named include Noble Grand Frances Maguire and Vice Grand Richard Eastin, with several supports and guardians listed and committees appointed for resolutions finance visiting.

Deputy James B. Wilson halted a Sunday gambling gathering near the Q tracks east of the East Sewerpipe factory. He interrupted the bone worshipers as they knelt by the cinders to gamble at the popping cubes while a crowd dispersed, with two alleged gamblers slipping under train cars and others fleeing along the road bed.
A morning roof fire at Edwin Leach’s 326 East Carroll Street was sparked by a chimney. An alarm was sounded but resident Louis Randolph, nearby, extinguished the blaze with buckets of water before fire crews arrived. Damage described as slight.
