City Health tonight warned of a rapidly spreading illness in York and urged precautions as figures show rising cases of influenza pneumonia and related diseases. Medical authorities emphasized protective measures and public awareness to curb transmission.
The Rushville Presbytery will hold a two session convention at the First Presbyterian church with speakers Rev. Charles E. Bradt Dr. Charles E B Schenck and R R Bigger. Sessions at 2 30 and 7 30. Ministers elders deacons officers church members urged to attend.
Bethel residents identify loot from Stoneking brothers and DeGarmo robberies as their property. School stove and lunch utensils are confirmed stolen from Brickyard school. The trio faces arraignment in Justice Falkenthal's court tomorrow with likely guilty pleas. Grand jury recalled to consider indictment as trials near.
A judge granted separation of the trials of Governor Small and Ver non Curtis, with Small to be tried first. Curtis remains at home under quarantine as the arraignments proceed, and the atmosphere in court turns tense during the dramatic proceedings.
In Boston on January 31, Henry Murray, a Black man, barricaded himself in a South End home and wounded two patrolmen, a negress and a negro, before surrendering. Crowds shouted Lynch him and surged as officers broke down the door, injuring another officer and a resident during the standoff.
In Hattiesburg Mississippi on January 830 a secret organization of twenty two boys called itself RA R Run African Run. The group aimed to run colored men out of town and has been broken up by authorities.
Senator Kenyon of Tow a deserts the Senate to accept a nomination as federal judge. The President sent the nomination to the Senate, which confirmed it in executive session. Kenyon praised the act and said it would allow him to pursue his federal judicial ambitions.
The missionary society of the Methodist church will meet tomorrow at 2 30 PM in the church. All ladies of the church are invited to attend.
The Elks club hosts a dance this week featuring Campbell's orchestra. The event promises lively music and a social evening for members and guests.
Bushnell Post American Legion hosted four bouts last night. Dixon of Astoria stopped Polert in the third, while Polert-Way hurt Dixon late. Wyoming’s Laer stopped Carstens in two, and Macomb’s man showed strength against Logan. Chicago’s Miller fought Sweeney to a draw, with Dans as referee.
The constitutional convention begins work on county representation as downstate delegates predict passage of the plan this week. Dale Goodyear of Watseka says the tally shows at least 52 votes with potential for 53 or more. A vote on the proposition seems probable tomorrow amid concerns over public confidence in the convention.

City judge race may pit C I Imeg and E H Grigsby, both Republicans, against A B Fuhr. calls for combined primary and election dates to save about $500.
Special deputy sheriff 8. B. Howard destroyed 100 gallons of whiskey mash seized in a raid at the James Gossage residence near the Porcelain factory on court order. The mash was poured into the gutter. Also notes births: Emmet township couple welcome a ten pound boy. Mr and Mrs Westerhold announce a 9 1/2 pound boy. Floyd Thorpe and Mrs Thorpe welcome a boy Floyd Joseph Morrison Thorpe. Ralph Livingston and wife report an 11 pound girl.
After five weeks at home with eye troubles, Jim Gould resumes activity and prepares to reopen his popcorn stand.
