Word from Goshen Indiana says Elmer Jones a resident of Indutar is a federal prisoner in Elkhart county jail charged with illegal transportation of liquor. He was arrested near the Michigan line and the Dodge roadster he drove was confiscated. He faces ninety days in jail plus a $3850 fine. Attorney T Mae Downing represents Jones and may seek release or lighter punishment if able to show first offense and lack of professional transport intent.
Twelve Peorians tied to the city’s so called wettest spot face hearings as federal and state laws join to prosecute raids by prohibition agents. State and federal authorities say the capture follows a week of investigations and a city wide liquor enforcement push led by State's Attorney Gibraith.
Edward Hafertennen of Cincinnati says a Cincinnati gambling syndicate has tried to kill him seven times in two months. He has hidden in a Lincoln hotel for four weeks and seeks protection from government officials. He reports detectives have tracked as many as a dozen gamblers following him across multiple states.
Local High School faces Bardolph in a basket shooting contest described as a notable inter town game. Bardolph brings a fast, snappy reputation though three star players Mick Morley and Nester are sidelined by illness and injuries.
County Treasurer John A. Barclay begins 1920 tax collection after state approval of his bond. About 9 000 taxpayers in McDonough County will bring a surge to the courthouse as tax books are in use and duplicates are available at local banks. The first taxpayer to pay is H C Lucas for parcels in Macomb eastern addition and Prairie City.

The Cass county deputy sheriff arrested Jos. McNeil of Fulton county in Beardstown after a bad check led to his capture.
