Miss Henrietta Martin formerly of this city now holds a half interest in the Monmouth ladies ready-to-wear shop at Cruzen Nelson Martin. The pair have bought the third interest of Mr Cruzen and will run the business as Nelson Martin Store. Martins previously worked at Wyne Dry Goods and the shop has become a Maple City leading store after recent remodeling and addition of a millinery department.
Harry Birch, a Chicago motion picture cameraman, was beaten by Ernest Harrington in a Danville cottage after Birch attempted to gain entry claiming permission. Birch suffered a broken nose and facial injuries, later left with two strangers before a doctor arrived. Harrington, a butcher, was not arrested and Birch made no complaint. The case centers on a 44 day fast to compel Harrington's conversion as his wife pursues religious pressure in a tense domestic dispute.
R C and WR C will hold meetings Friday morning starting at 9 o'clock at their hall and adjourn at noon. G A I meets at 2 and W R C at 2 30, then both posts join for an installation of officers. Every member urged to attend.

Jacksonville report says Kasper Hildebrandt an 11 year old pupil at the Illinois school for the blind fell from a third floor window of the main building at 3 30 pm instantly killed. Parents live at Morton Grove Illinois. It is the first accident in the school's history.

Washington January 13 Senator McCunder Republican of North Dakota announced he will press for a tariff of about 50 cents a bushel on wheat to curb Canadian imports to be added to the Fordney emergency tariff bill replacing the 38 cent duty in the house version.
A mob seized William Beard from the Walker county jail in Jasper Alabama early today and shot him to death three miles from town. Jailer and military officials believe Beard was freed by friends before the body was found by a rural mail carrier along the roadside.
About a thousand Holt Manufacturing employees in Peoria did not report to work as a 20 percent wage reduction took effect. Company officials said two hundred workers reported for duty, while a shop council vote held yesterday rejected the pay cut by a wide margin of six to one.
Athens Jan 11 The United States government has consented to advance 32 million dollars promised earlier to Greece under Prime Minister Metaxas condition that the funds be spent in America for nonwar materials.
The 1921 war savings stamps arrive in $1 treasury stamps and $25 and $100 certificates. Prices are $1, $20.60 and $82.40 with monthly increases. Four $1 stamps plus 13 cents buy a $5 stamp. Novel Pilgrim commemorative stamps in three denominations also arrive, sold on request in limited quantities.

William Yates and Mrs. James Gould were summoned to Janesville Wisconsin by the serious illness of their sister Mrs John Clayton who telegram says suffered a stroke of paralysis and is in a critical condition. She is a daughter of Amos Yates of West Calhoun street.
