The board ousted Charles Chadsey as superintendent after defying an order by Circuit Judge Scanlon.

Wayne Welch lost a pure bred Hampshire brood sow three miles northwest of Seiota on Sunday. The animal was chewed to death by two dogs, one ham eaten and the sow disemboweled before she died. The value of the sow is estimated.
Peter Harrigan aged 30 a coal miner died when he fell from a Ford truck between Ellisville Station and Checkrow road the rear wheel passed over his chest. Coroners jury ruled accidental death with driver Charles Bates stating Harrigan had been drinking before the mishap near Checkrow.
Elks of Illinois announce their annual state convention will be held in Galesburg May 31 to June 2. The event will feature entertainment, dances, auto trips, and business sessions with a memorial tribute to deceased Elks, notably James A. Finlen of Streator. A fifty piece band and a drill team will attend with the Peoria lodge.
