Walter Roberts of Plymouth remains in serious condition at Holmes Hospital where he has been treated since Sunday for peritonitis. Doctors say his condition was too severe for a successful operation at the time of admission.

Cecil Swedell, seven, of Adair, slipped while using his father's knife to cut twine and drove the blade into his right eye. He was taken to Phelps hospital in Macomb where Dr. Duntley performed an operation to save the eye.
Two safe blowers attempted a vault robbery at the Farmers and Merchants Bank near Utied Michigan. A can of mustard gas placed inside the vault released when the door was forced, driving the men out empty handed.
