Two roof fires after 4 pm yesterday caused minimal damage. A Stocker home roof on South Randolph Street had a small hole near the chimney damaging about $10. A Lafayette Street fire caused about $20 in losses.

Wage Scale Committee Opposes Wage Cuts for Miners

Indianapolis February 14 The wage scale committee for the United Mine Workers declares strong opposition to any reduction in mining prices and urges maintenance of the present basic wages. It recommends a general suspension of mining if no agreement by April 1, a referendum on any wage scale, an eight hour day with time and half for overtime, weekly pay days, elimination of fines for contract breaches, and a two year soft coal wage period from April 1.
