Travel rate suspension delays 1921 fare rise

Springfield Dec 24 The State Public Utilities Commission suspended the proposed local passenger fare increase by the M I L R R until April 19 1921. The commission had granted the request to advance fares effective December 20 but ordered suspension until the later date. Travelling men who paid the higher rate kept receipts and will be refunded the excess. From Macomb the former rate was:

Miss Ethel M. Vail and Jesse McBride Wed at Home Ceremony

Miss Ethel M. Vail and Jesse McBride, both residents of the city, united in marriage last evening at 8 30 at the bride's parents home on South Lafayette Street. The Rev. A L Cole officiated as Mendelssohn’s wedding march played by groom’s niece accompanied the single ring ceremony. A light luncheon followed for thirty guests, with out of town attendees including Mrs Harry Henritz and Karl Pohl. The bride, formerly of Industry, has worked in the E C Maguire ready to wear store. The groom, son of the late Mr and Mrs P S McBride, has spent most of his life here and works in railroad duties with headquarters in Colshune. They will reside at home February 1.
