Oil Barricade Treatment Plans Disrupted By Weather
Last night officials halted the oil barricade proposal of the highway superintendent to coat 100 blocks, delaying application until ground dries. The plan covered blocks along North Me rotror, West nine to West ber, West Piper, South Lafayette, West Pierce, McArthurs, and South Dud- East Jackson to Merson, with oil intended to moisten and protect the pavement.

Grading Contract Awarded on Camp Creek Hill Project
County Superintendent W M Bonham announced another grading contract for Camp Creek hill on the road south from the fair grounds between Industry and Bethel townships. The 5 12 percent slope reduction will cost 400 dollars and Arthur Kruse will start work likely next week. Additionally Harry Holmes finished a 45 foot concrete girder bridge across Grindstone in Bethel township and another 21 2 mile north of Good Hope. Harry Ogden of Bardolph completed the concrete bridge near the Wm Rich farm in Mound township.

In Chicago on August 31 Fred W. Upham Republican National Committee treasurer denied knowing or ordering a list of campaign quotas tied to Cox's Pittsburg speech. He said the $8 million figure was newspapered and that his office did not prepare the list. He was asked to produce the quota sheet and records of national budget items, speaker payments, billboard contracts, and foreign language ads. Other testimony noted loans totaling $360,000 to the RNC and that those loans were authorized by the party’s executive committee.

Coal prices to rise with 95 cent per ton total increase
