A report describes an injury incident at a tower site in Decatur involving a worker. Details remain limited but indicate a collision or fall caused injury. Local authorities investigate the event and assess consequences for the project timeline.
In Illinois on August 9 a windstorm caused a construction tower to topple over. J A Brown and Walter Durbin, both from Decatur, were injured as the tower crashed to the ground. Brown suffered rib fractures and a lung injury. Durbin survived with possible injuries. Funeral plans were set for a Canton man later.
Daniels and Jackson two suspects held in the county jail on charges of slugging and robbing Elmer E. Martin a veteran of Ticonderoga New York at Bushnell Friday July 30 will be given a chance to state their side in Justice Falkenthal's court tomorrow morning. Bushnell residents testified to seeing them there but they deny arriving until about noon. Martin is employed in Bushnell.
Mrs. A. Thompson drove the family Dodge roadster toward the city when rain on the windshield blinded her view near the Gill residence. The right front wheel broke and the radiator damaged but no injuries to adults. A baby had a cheek cut and a small son, Robert, was bumped under the eye. Passengers Margaret Thompson and Maxine Miller were uninjured.
In Laporte Indiana a thunderstorm interrupted a Free Methodists service at Springville. A bolt struck the canvas tent on the platform killing Rev Henry Lenz of Bellvidere Illinois and Rev L S Huston field agent for Evansville Seminary. Rev John Timber was seriously burned and many worshippers were knocked down.
Shorthorn breeders of the county will meet Friday August 13 at the Bushnell Sales Pavilion to discuss a Shorthorn cattle sale and organize breeders of the breed. The group notes there are likely more Shorthorn breeders than any other in the country.
Francisco Villa entered San Pedro Coahuila with 3000 supporters cheering Viva Villa as he raised troops before the plaza and offered surrender to avoid US intervention. His band of 900 camped after a 24 hour desert march while leaders who once pursued him embraced him.
The U S Railway Labor Board awarded American Express Co 80 000 employees an 16 cent hourly wage rise retroactive to May 1 1920. The decision allows rate increases to cover higher labor costs under the Esch Cummings act. 2500 shop men remain tied to the railway award. A strong but short lived afternoon storm caused considerable damage from wind. Tree limbs fell across properties in multiple city areas including the Gill residence and the courthouse yard. A large limb also broke from a tree at the Laughlin residence on South Lafayette street.
Strong winds caused trees to shed limbs and debris littered streets. A Ford left near Federal bakery was moved across the road by the gusts, while a railing and porch components were torn away at nearby homes. Rainfall measured .67 inches with minor impact beyond a construction tower collapse in Table Grove that killed one and injured another.
Four of the five young men implicated in transporting liquor on the Blandinsville highway during the Farmers' picnic gave $800 bonds for appearance in county court. Dewey Kipling Charles Nelson and Meyer Wayland of Colchester signed as sureties. Lloyd Walley of Colchester posted bond with aunt Mrs. Alice Wagle and cousin Henry Wagle. Frank Green of Hamilton has not yet posted bond.

American Steel Products reported losses of 149.96 dollars for material and downtime, raising questions about who should bear the cost as C T P S promises continuous service.
