Mr. Wm. Montgomery, son of Portage la Prairie residents, has purchased Mr. A. Gray's Drug Store. A Manitoba graduate of 1935, Montgomery trained in his hometown and Winnipeg, then worked at Ripley's Drug Store before taking over. He plans a full stock and is regarded highly by The Herald.
At the last meeting the council decided to host a Welcome Home supper for discharged and returned service personnel with a November start. It also approved a plan to build a MacGregor memorial as a Community Hall and Rest Centre and asked for building and financial plans to be submitted promptly.
