Government to subsidize wheat sales under Geneva plan
Trade Minister Winters told the Commons the federal government will subsidize wheat sold by the Canadian Wheat Board below Geneva minimum prices, effective July 1 next year. He said subsidies will cover the difference from last August 1 to July 1, 1968, and do not expect heavy treasury impact as the market strengthens toward the Geneva range. The old five year wheat agreement expired last July 31.

No headway was made at a meeting between The Pas Indian reserve representatives and Churchill Industries about a sawmill on the reserve. A new meeting date will be announced. An Indian Affairs spokesman in Winnipeg said no formal land request has been made. The company plans a 100 million dollar development in The Pas area with timber rights on 40 000 square miles. Mayor Trager said the land initially eyed was annexed by the town and muskeg ruled it unsuitable. Churchill operates under Monaca AG, Technopulp Inc, and Haindeische Pakrfabrikien.

Lloyd Unimpressed By Wheat Guarantee
CCF Leader Woodrow Lloyd told about 230 people at an election rally that Ottawa s guarantee of 195 a bushel for wheat is insufficient and will lower farm incomes. He warned Saskatchewan faces economic hardship, farm exits, urban unemployment, and calls out provincial inaction while citing Pearson s 1963 pledge of 2 a bushel.
