Trustees oppose new rules on school division referenda
Manitoba School Trustees Association condemns ministerial rules requiring a 35 percent petition plus an 80 percent local board reservation for referenda on single district divisions. Petitions and resolutions due by October 23 clash with monthly meetings, likely blocking fall referenda and delaying 1968 unitary division benefits. Trustees urge elector review before further penalties accrue.
