L.O.B.A. lodge 316 hosted a well attended tea and bazaar at the Elks Hall on Saturday November 6 with Mrs Helen Henry opening the event. Officers and volunteers supervised tea tables kitchen and sewing, while bursaries were awarded to Blair Chapman and Jennifer Lowe for music from the Toronto Conservatory of Music.
MacGregor readers learn of Harold and Mrs. Orchard two week voyage aboard the M S Nordic Prince visiting San Juan Puerto Rico Charlotte Amalie St Thomas Fort de France Martinique Caracas Venezuela October 23 to 30 The journal notes plants flowers and wildlife seen and comments on local wages and living conditions during the trip with a vivid look at island life and sea views.
Mrs. E. Fox enjoyed trips to Regina and Vancouver visiting friends. A feature of the Over-Sixty Club on Nov. 9 was a Merrill Worach life film by Ron Moffit. Portage concert on Nov. 2. Friesen spoke at Portage Alliance Church on Nov. 14, with Elm River Hutterite girls singing. Orchards report Aruba's desert flora and 20 inch yearly rainfall, water from sea, Divi Divi trees, and tall soft wood. They toured Curacao Willemstad, Port Antonio, and Port au Prince, Jamaica, noting the country of few smiles and hopeful people. the voyage ended with reflections on returning home.
