Msgr. Rene Belanger of Quebec believes he located the burial site of Louis Jolliet on Me Mingan in the Gulf of St Lawrence, a tiny island off Anticosti. He bases the claim on a 1740 letter and two expeditions, noting Mingan’s rugged terrain and possible homestead. The search, aided by government and research bodies, seeks confirmation for a full archaeologic expedition.
The Hospital Aid will hold their meeting in Southend School on Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Sid Hay and family attended the Santa Claus parade in Winnipeg on Saturday. Murray Frank spent a few days last week in MacGregor Hospital with pneumonia caused by the flu. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Orval Jones on their wedding at Lavenham church on Nov. 16. The November Committee Hospital Aid plans a novelty dance in Macaulay School on November 22. A no-hostess shower for Miss Eileen Turner and Orval Jones was held in Macaulay School on Nov. 12 with corsages for the bride’s mother and sister. A heavily laden corsage basket of gifts was brought in and then opened.
The MacGregor H Sewing Club met for the fourth time at MacGregor School on Tuesday November 12. A Xmas Surprise Box will be placed in Stan Firth's show window December 1 and raffled December 2. Miss Lois Emmond, Home Ec.
