Guest Speaker Heard At Supper Meeting

At a well attended supper meeting of the CCF Lakeside on Nov 8 Mrs H Allen opened the proceedings with a presentation to Mr F C Barton who is leaving for the coast Don MacDonald of Ottawa spoke claiming the recent Ottawa session was a tragic spectacle CCF pressure for price control contrasted by government action Asley and Howe referenced in debate Eight Mullion people reportedly support controls while Howe resists The meeting closed with a successful appeal for funds and increased membership

YLS Plan For Christmas Bazaar

The YLS met at Mrs G Fotheringham’s home with twenty two members and one visitor. They planned the annual bazaar for Saturday November 25 and approved a fifteen dollar donation to the Institute for the Blind. The December meeting is set for December 11 at Mrs L Patterson’s home.

Winter Plans To Be Discussed By Lady Curlers

The MacGregor Ladies' Curling Club meets Monday at 8:15 p.m. at Mrs W C Hardy to discuss the winter season and invite prospective members to sign up. Members and those interested urged to attend, time and place noted.

Fair Board To Meet November 29

North Norfolk and District Agricultural Society schedules a meeting at Memorial Hall MacGregor on Wednesday after noon November 29 at 2 pm. Postponed from November 15 notices, officers for the 1951 season and the 1950 financial report will be presented. Members and interested citizens urged to attend.

Gordon South Elected President of Local Legion Branch

The North Norfolk and District Branch of the Canadian Legion held its annual meeting in the Memorial Room on Tuesday November 7 with a strong turnout. Officers and committee members were elected led by Hon. Pres. S. R. Lamb and President G. W. South with Dune Lamp as 1st Vice President and other posts filled by local members. A Few Supper planning and catering cards were urged for return.

Elevators Rush as Grain Quota Lifted This Week

Local elevators report a flood of deliveries after quota removal. Pool Elevator manager Tuiner claims over 20 000 bushels this week and at least fifteen carloads shipped. Lake of the Woods elevator shows improving box car availability per Mr Trinder. Doerksen notes over 14 000 bushels and at least fifteen carloads expected. The region seems on track for a record grain year with hundreds more bushels to come.

Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary for Mr and Mrs William Anderson

Mr and Mrs William Anderson of MacGregor celebrate fifty years of marriage. They were wed in Winnipeg in 1900s at Old St. Andrews Church. The couple resided in Gladstone Edrans and now MacGregor and remain active in the local W.L and WMS groups. A Sunday dinner honored them with family and friends sending congratulations.
