Warning Sounded for Rural Areas Housing Conditions Decline
A joint CMHC and Canadian Centre report warns rural housing and services must improve as 1.2 million people left prairie rural areas from 1921 to 1961. It cites high rates of migration, poor housing lacking central heating and running water, and limited urban-like amenities, urging expanded programs beyond housing to reverse rural decline.

The unification act allows existing personnel not to be reassigned to different combat environments unless they volunteer, meaning an infantryman may not be required to serve at sea.
