TransCanada to raise natural gas prices up to 10.7 percent
TransCanada Pipelines Ltd. will hike distributor rates by as much as 10.7 percent effective last Thursday to offset higher Western gas costs through November 1974. The National Energy Board approved the increase, adding about 5.2 cents per thousand cubic feet to the current roughly 50 cents paid east of North Bay Ontario, with smaller rises in some areas. It remains unclear how domestic and industrial users will be affected as the company projects paying an extra 47.9 million dollars for gas next year.
