Canadian students press Bladen Commission on tuition policy
Western representatives of the Canadian Union of Students criticized the Bladen Commission on higher education finance for giving students little time to brief and for barring press access. The university group, spanning Victoria to Winnipeg, backed demands to reduce or abolish tuition fees and to end the 11 percent sales tax on student unions. Jean Bazin warned that ideas would be enacted nationally, urging greater student involvement in future policy.

Liberal Filibuster Delays Manitoba Pension Bill
Manitoba Liberals staged an all night filibuster over a proposed pension plan for MLAs, forcing a Saturday session and threatening a long night as talk continues.
