A $1,500,000 appropriation is proposed for extensions including a high voltage 66,000 volt line from Portage la Prairie to Brandon and auxiliary low voltage lines to Austi MacGregor and Sidney. A north line from Austin to Gladstone and another to Edrans are planned, with further north and western hydro work across towns such as Austin, Brandon, Carberry, Selkirk, Teuloo, Miato, Neepawa, Mnette and Minnedoss. The City Fathers have contacted the Power Commission. a public meeting, with a Power Commission representative, is expected in April to discuss light and power costs to MacGregor. The School Board outlined grants for 1929 including High School 5000, Legislative 1500, Library & Laboratory 750, General Municipal 720, totaling 1440. A grant of 5 per month per pupil for nonresident students in grades 9 to 11 is also noted, with funding from July 10, 1929 totaling 602.49 for nonresident pupils. Plans include expanding courses to include foreign languages and ensure matriculation to university or normal school, with intermediate education to be completed at college or high school for Rend University entry. The aim is to provide better access and instruction through revised grants and new lines.
