GL Kenering, Comsec of hospitalization, announced higher Manitoba Hospital Services Plan premiums. Effective January 1, 1961, six month benefits rise to 18 dollars for singles and 36 dollars for families, up 95 cents and 1.90 dollars monthly respectively. Payroll deductions begin in June 1960. municipal payments switch with October 15 to November 30, 1960 period. A 1960 review preceded these changes.
Agricultural findings from the Brandon Experimental Farm show early cutting of alfalfa and grasses yields high protein and palatability, with best results in late June to early July. A separate note reports Manitoba Hospital Services Plan funding, surplus in 1959, 1.8 million-dollar projected 1960 deficit, and a stabilization fund to support new services, with four percent admin expense and ninety six percent directed to hospital services.
MacGregor youth Nelson Skomorowski and Robert Leckie attended Boys State at the University of Minnesota St Paul and the North Dakota Agricultural College Pergo as guests of the International War Veterans Alliance. Skomorowski, 1980 graduate, earned Governor General’s silver medal. Leckie, 18, is an MFA agriculture diploma graduate. Their trip was arranged by the Manitoba IWV Alliance with MFA. US exchange students will join MFA camp at Clear Lake in July.
