W M S Silver Anniversary Draws 150 Attendees

About 150 delegates attended the W M S silver anniversary in Portage la Prairie with honorary presidents and officers elected for 1950 1951. Dr Isabelle McTavish guest speaker reviewed China events from prosperity to crisis and urged aid for Chinese Christians and missionaries.

The first wedding features Regina bride in ice blue gown and yellow tea rose bouquet. The second wedding crowns Myrtle Frances Nelson in white satin with pearl details and a halo veil.

Organization Meeting Tuesday Third T B X Ray Survey Planned

Plans for the third X ray survey in North Norfolk were announced for MacGregor to be held in Memorial Hall on Tuesday June 27 at 8 PM. Dr W L Rutledge, survey director of the Sanitarium Board of Manitoba, will advise, with Manitoba representatives and village officials in attendance.

Dominion Day Sports in Austin 1885 65th annual event marked

A Winnipeg correspondent recounts Austin's first Dominion Day on July 1 1885 with prominent attendees including Rev Farquhar MacRae MP Robert Watson and local figures. The festival featured farm wagon travel, sewers, and an eighteenth anniversary of confederation themed program plus a MacGregor vs Austin baseball game and a list of Austin players and the umpire Charlie Babb.

Valley wedding ends in formal reception and classic attire

Mrs Violet Hughson presided as matron of honor while the bridal party wore blue and pink ensembles. The bride wore midnight blue with grey jacket and Sweetheart rose corsage as family and friends hosted a reception for about seventy five guests at the close of the ceremony.

Evacuees Return Home After Red River Flood

Last flood evacuees from St. Vital, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Mitchell and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Ho Horton with relatives, returned home after a month in MacGregor. They praised the town's aid and the lunch committee, convened by Chas. Kitson, for providing food during the relief stay.

Popular Bank Accountant Transferred to Montreal

Word reached the local Bank of Montreal branch that Fred Hammond is transferred to Montreal to join the Head Office inspection staff. Cliff H. Lea will succeed him in MacGregor after Lea arrives from Melville Saskatchewan.

Cubs Sweep Weekend With Strong Baseball Play

The Cubs posted a productive week end with a four win run as Walter Critchlow led a doubleheader sweep over Neepawa 7-6 and 3-1. Sunday the Quakville Rockets visited and fell 2-1 in ten innings on a clutch Critchlow drive.
