Recreation Directors Named for This Area

The federal government through its opportunities for youth plan provides a grant in aid to support summer recreation programs for 95 centers. Two directors, Shirley Benko and Jack Rutherford, will serve North Norfolk, Mac Gregor, Austin, Sydney, and Rossendale, starting programs and co authoring a Herald column on upcoming events.

Holiday Arts Festival Program of Courses NeePawa Manitoba

Two weeks of study in painting drama dance ceramics and photography offered at the Manitoba Holiday Festival of Arts in NeePawa July 4 to 16. Neepawa Area Collegiate provides space and equipment, with field trips to Carberry desert and Big Valley. Pine Creek School Divisions Music Program Pilot Plan

The Pine Creek School Division approved a May 17 1971 board decision to launch a pilot music program effective September 1 1971 with Mrs Roberta Stone to teach three days a week. The minutes also note approval of use of the MacGregor multi purpose room for public speaking, salary agreement, new hires and several facility and budget actions. Local meetings and school projects are planned through June and August 1971 including bus use for a field trip and grants and clerical appointments.

North Norfolk Fair Prep Shows 84th Annual Event

The North Norfolk and District Agricultural Society announces its 84th annual exhibition and sports set for Friday through Sunday, July 9 to 11. Highlights include 4-H day with falt show and sale, MacGregor 4-H Light Horse Show, pancake breakfast, parade, livestock judging, baseball and fastpitch, an Arabian horse show, senior baseball tournament, sheep shearing, a midway and a physical fitness test.

Water Safety Course At Jackson's Lake

The Austin recreation Association and the Canadian Red Cross sponsor a water safety course at Jacksons Lake starting July 6. Miss Gayland Scott of Winnipeg will teach. Registration aims to include Carberry Sidney Austin MacGregor and Bagot areas with last year’s about 100 participants to be surpassed. Learn to swim for water safety.

Fish Derby At Jack son's Lake This Sunday

Fishermen will gather at Jack son s Lake for the North Norfolk MacGregor Wildlife Association derby. Entries close by 2 p.m. and weigh in ends at 5 p.m. Entry is 1 dollar for seniors while juniors 16 and under enter free. Trophies go to the first and second largest fish in both senior and junior classes. Advance registration at Barry s Barbershop Wood s Service Station and Co op Mac Gregor.
