Manitoba Exports Doubled in Three Years
Trade minister Sidney Spivak told a Rotary luncheon that Manitoba’s exports outside Canada have doubled to 190.9 million a year over three years. He noted 360 thousand dollars of last year’s 1 billion dollars of manufactured goods stayed in Canada, with manufactured goods abroad, especially the United States, rising to nearly 20 percent of output from 11 percent. The COMEF plan, started in 1960 to tackle unemployment, is cited as a turning point with progress four years after its report.
