Old timer maps a steam threshing rig toward Portage

A crowd of Manitoba veterans watched D C Carrothers of Austin steer an old time steam threshing outfit to Portage la Prairie for a fair. The journey, 21 miles, would take about 13 hours with tires burned for fuel. The mobile display aims to form a steam machine museum and reflects a shift to gasoline engines for big farm work.

Youthful Firdale Woman Passes in Carberry Death

Ruth Edith Beck 22 wife of Edward Garth Manns of Firdale died Sunday July 2 after a long illness at her in laws home in Carberry. Born Gladstone Man she is survived by husband parents one sister and four brothers. Funeral at St Agnes Carberry July 4 with Rev C Wright and Rev J McLeod assisted. Floral tributes and pallbearers named. Interment at Carberry cemetery.

63rd Family and Friends Mourn Passing at Exhibition

In a town event, 1700 attendees mourn the passing of Mrs. F. Botton aged 1? years during the annual exhibition and sports show. The piece notes hardships with midway attractions, charity booths, and a long obituary detailing Mrs. Botton’s life from England to Canada, her Golden Wedding anniversary, and her community work with United Farm Women of Manitoba, Rest Room efforts, and local lodges. Prizes Awarded at Eaton Exhibition Baking Needlework Winners

Mrs Nelson and Mrs Adams tied for the most prizes in baking with ten each while Mrs A Borozney won the special Eaton prize for best needlework. The agricultural exhibit drew attention with sports proving popular as ten teams entered the baseball event and results included Austin over MacGregor B, Macdonad over Oakville, and Poschendale defeating East Prospect.

Home Is Setting For Pretty Bridal

A wedding at the home of Mr and Mrs S J Crealock Bagot Manitoba united Evelyn Isabel Crealock and Morris Chepil both of Flin Flon Manitoba in a ceremony conducted by Rev C D Rupp MacGregor. The bride wore a white nylon marquisette gown with frilled collar, full skirt, pearl adorned veil and a bouquet of Talisman roses. Attendants wore green and yellow gowns and carried colonial bouquets. After a reception for about ninety guests the couple left for a honeymoon in Manhattan Kansas and will reside in Flin Flon Manitoba.

Joint Decoration Day Service in MacGregor and Beaver

The first joint Decoration Day Service held in Macur lall last Sunday honored World War I heroes. Attended by MacGregor and Katrime residents, the Legion and LODE led the ceremonies with prayers, readings, hymns, and a procession to the MacGregor Cenotaph. Wreaths were placed at MacGregor Beaver and Katrime cemeteries as many people gathered in good weather.

Hay Family Reunion Honors Macdonalds in Scotland Ties

On July 1 a reunion of the hay families was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Fothering m in honor of the Macdonalds of Glasgow Scotland. Out of town visitors included Mrs Gordon McIntosh and Sandra of Souris Mr and Mrs West of Minnedosa Mrs Dolly Patterson and Glendon McAuley and Mrs W Munro Portage nd George Dufpen of Calgary. Members from surrounding districts joined the party. A cake from Scotland decorated with blue bells and heather was cut during the day.
