Local news from Portage la Prairie and MacGregor covers the Portage la Prairie Fair July 678, summer visits by residents, council meeting in MacGregor on July 7, and various social events. Highlights include birthday wishes for Mrs. M. E. Hodge, travel plans for the Nascopie Arctic voyage, and community notices about sales, exhibitions, and church rallies.
The North Norfolk and District Branch of the Canadian Legion will meet at Westbourne on Monday July 6 at 8 30 p.m.
Decoration Day will be observed Sunday July 5 at MacGregor Beaver and Katrime with services at the cenotaph at 1:30 PM and processions to the three cemeteries. Rev G L Armstrong and Rev S Mcleod to speak. Canadian Legion and ex-service men urged to attend and form at the Fair grounds at 1 PM.
The Norfolk Conservative Association holds a rally in MacGregor on Thursday July 9 at 7 30 pm. The Conservative Leader Mr Errick F Willis and John P Lawrie of Brookdale Conservative Candidate will be principal speakers. Large attendance from Gladstone Lakeside and Norfolk constituencies is anticipated.
Mr and Mrs H T Trethewey with Miss Pauline Trethewey and Miss Katherine MacKinnon motored to Roland on Saturday and spent the weekend with Mrs G F Byers and family.
