Manitoba Insurance Minister Bill Uruski said a new business use category will raise auto insurance premiums for vehicles used 15 percent or more for business, isolating higher risk drivers. Winnipeg motorists in business use face 40 to 60 percent basic premium increases, with about 27,000 Winnipeg vehicles affected. He noted taxpayers subsidize high-risk drivers under Autopac and many businessmen register cars via their company for tax breaks. The decision hinges on whether a vehicle is used for business 15 percent or more of the time. A Canada Manpower Centre expansion adds a new centre in Frobisher Bay, with five centres now in the Territories.
