Outlook Encouraging Amid Western Wheat Farm Struggles

A. S. McPhail of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool comments in The Globe's financial review on 1929 Western Canadian crops. He notes the eight season harvest yields the lowest since 1994 in quantity though high in quality, with total Western Canada wheat at 712 million bushels and 50 million needed for feed and seed. He cites uneven fortunes among farmers, reduced crop movement not to blame for lower business, and a cautious but improved national outlook compared to 1922 and 1973.
