MacGregor moved six points ahead in the South Central League with a 9 7 win over Holland. Key scorers were McGregor Lindsay Inglis and Heselwood with two goals each, Weber one, as the crowd watched a dominant home performance. Referees Allan and McNamara handed out five penalties.
The North Norfolk Hospital Board held a regular meeting on Friday February 4 1955 in Austin. The board approved grants including 150 to the Children's Aid Society and allocations for road grading and snowplowing costs. A vote on a proposed hospital addition was deferred to the board for further details and timing. Dr Sutton began practice in November and welcomed two doctors aiding public service. Raymond Smith was reappointed to a three year term.
Local Bank of Montreal announces Saturday closing following regional practice. Starting Friday February 18 1955 the hours Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 30 p.m. Closed for lunch 12 15 to 1 15 daily, and closed all day Saturday.
Local rinks compete in Winnipeg Bagot Erdans and Sidney Bonspiels this week as MacGregor sends Colin Shaw Garry Cobbe Glenn Lye and Dane Lamb. Lois Fotheringham wins Portage Creamery Event with her rink tying 1952 trophy in extra end. About 110374 TV sets sold in Canada in Q1 1954, up 45 percent from 1953.
The February meeting at Mrs. F. Venn's home was led by Mrs. H. I. Collins with a devotional and a review of chapter six of Christian Unity in North and South India. A lively discussion followed as the thirty member society looks to a fruitful year in Christian service and fellowship.
MacGregor High School held a prize line with awards in several events including grand challenge lamps cameras water sets and ball point pens. Winners included Rae Anderson Perry Allan Kelvin Palmer and others with notes of runner ups and a later ice cream prize for top team. The final game score was Wilfred Alton of Katrime with 127 points. Valentines Day planned in downstairs rooms as the school notes a quiet news day due to circumstances beyond their control.
Friday February 25 reserved for AYP/A three act play in MacGregor Memorial Hall with dancing to follow. The YUS meets Monday February 14 at 8 30 pm at Mrs W Schellenberg. St Pauls Junior Auxiliary hosts a Valentine Tea February 12 from 3 to 5 pm at Mrs C McKelvy. The W A United Church meets February 14 at 8 15 pm at Miss Eilene Marsh.
