Last Friday in Southend school a group of Southend and Macaulay friends gathered to honor newlyweds Mr and Mrs Robert Chant. The evening featured whist and games followed by a mock wedding with Lloyd McDougald as bride and Art Palmer as minister. Confetti showered the couple as Lorne Pennell read the address and Louis Kreitz presented a platform Tucker and silver birth china. Robert thanked guests and invited them to visit their new home. Hostesses served a dainty lunch.

The Conspiel at the Collegiate saw Bob Briscoe with Ross Nichol Stuart Montgomery and Joyce McDougall win the Teachers Event and earn sweaters. Second went to Donna Butterfield’s rink who received scarves and gloves, with Len Stewart in third and Larry Moore fourth. The Students Event crowned Bob Thompson’s team as winners with sweaters and blouses, Hazel Pennett’s rink won cologne, and Doug Falmer and Jim Smith placed third and fourth. Art Groves Event saw Bob McKelvy’s rink take long play records, Wilf Alton’s group second for pens and chocolates. The MacGregor Collegiate hosted a two day bonspiel with seventeen teams in three divisions Teach ers Students and Groves. Bob Briscoe led his rink to first in the Teachers event with Ross Nichol Stuart Montgomery and Carol McDougall, while others claimed second, third and fourth places in the competition.
