The 4-H Calf and Garden clubs held curling at the Austin rink on December 30 with Wellwood Calf Club first, Sidney Garden Club second, Katrime-Beaver third in the first event. Ravenshoe Swine first, Springbrook Garden second, Sidney Calf third in the second. Prizes went to Mrs Rey Winterbottom and Albert Evenson for whist. proceeds supported the March of Dimes. The group also hosted telephone whist drives, embroidery on tea towels for the Austin Community Hall, and planned a toboggan party plus a February 23 meeting at the school with Randy Kowalchuk as representative.

A two day short course for Manitoba farmers is set for February 15 and 16 at the Agricultural Extension Centre in Brandon. Experts will cover design utility and cost, labor saving layouts, lighting and water systems, ventilation and insulation for livestock buildings, concrete mixtures, floors and foundations, and structural principles for framing and roofing.
MacGregor Bantam and Midget hockey squads were drawn against Gladstone in the M.A.H.A. playdowns and both were eliminated after a two game total point series. The Midgets fell 64 then 62 to Gladstone with Rick Palmer and Dennis McQuiston scoring in MacGregor, while the Bantams dropped 15 2 and 6 2 with MacGregor’s Sheldon Harvey and Butch Pearson scoring as Gladstone claimed the series.
Leaders of the First Mac Gregor Troop and Cub Pack set the annual Going Up ceremony for Monday February 12 at 7 p.m. in the MacGregor Memorial Hall. Lunch will be served after the ceremony. Everyone welcome.
The MacGregor W sponsors a whist drive in the Senior Citizens' Room on February 8 at 8 p.m. entry 50c with proceeds for oil for the room. The Junior Auxiliary at St. Paul's church hosts its St Valentine tea and produce table at Mrs G Hicks home February 14 from 3 to 5 30 p.m. Unit 1 of the U C W meets at MacGregor United church February 12 at 8 p.m. transport requests to the meeting to 362. The February meeting of the

Various locals from Winnipeg and Portage visit patients, with spring signs and flu concerns noted. New babies born at the local hospital include two daughters and a son to multiple families. plans and travel mentioned as residents enjoy outings and sports events.
The North Norfolk Junior Farmers met January 22 to discuss This Business of Farming with guest Lorne Carter of Manitoba Pool Elevators. New officers were elected: Bob Chant president, Ron Kalberg vice president, Lyall Stone secretary, Bob Loney treasurer, Lloyd Street reporter. An open meeting is set for February 7 in Memorial hall with Larry Sedgewick on performance testing in cattle and cattle housing.
A schedule of church activities lists St Pauls MacGregor and Bethel MacGregor services with times for Sunday School worship and evangelistic events. Austin United church hosts a U C W inaugural meeting on Feb 11 at 7 90 p m. Sidney United Church offers service at 11 00 am and Edrans and Arizona hold a 2 00 pm service. Rev D L McNutt preaches at MacGregor with 10 30 am Sunday School 11 30 am worship 7 30 pm evangelistic meetings on Feb 8 9. Hobby Club meets Feb 9 at 7 00 pm.
Calvary Tabernacle Sidney lists Rev. D Li McNutt as pastor with Sunday School at 2.15 and Worship at 3.00, plus Hour of Prayer on Tuesday at 8.00. MacGregor United Church pastoral charge under Rev. Earle Armistead offers morning worship at 10.00, church parade at 1.00, church school at 11.00, and church service at 11.30. Bagot and Beaver also host church schools and services in the afternoon.
