Experimental Farm Notes reports Incermewave wheatgrass yields ten percent more than Rome grass in Brandon tests and Project Farms across Manitoba. Bagot Rink Tops 4 H Calf Club Spiel
Fourteen 4H rinks took part in the Portage Calf Club bonspiel held Saturday January 27 with seven rinks from Portage Club and seven visiting. Bagot Rink captained by Lloyd Gemmell won the first event with Brydin Richardson Gordon Hildebrand and Billy Moffat. Portage Seed Club skip Craig Finnie took second. Don Ediger’s Poplar Point quartet was third. John Green Slade’s Portage rink finished fourth. In the second event Doug Finnie’s Portage Calf Club outfit won with Bayard Pollock of Westbourne second and Lusk of Portage Calf Club third. Curling ran 9 to 5 with Elmer Green Slade and Harvey Coltart as drawmasters. Visiting clubs included Poplar Point Seed Portage Seed Poplar Point Calf Westbourne Calf and Big Point Calf.
