MacGregor Council Debates Planning Scheme and Centennial
The Village of MacGregor held its December 1 meeting on December 10 with full attendance and Mayor Lye presiding. Items included planning scheme, Centennial commemoration, school zone signs, dogs and garbage, plus bylaw changes and a construction permit for James Cox. Delegates fees for the Manitoba Municipalities convention were approved and dog and garbage complaints prompted swift action.

Fun Filled Moments At MCS 1969 Recap
The 1969 year at MCI saw curling and basketball dominate January to March with bonspiels and a undefeated Raiders team. Betty Quinn and Dale Burch led championship runs while Daryl Gilbert claimed curling honors. April to June highlighted track champs at Gladstone and Neepawa, Spring Prom, and a skate-athon that raised 4500 for a community centre. July and August brought summer plans, college applications, and summer jobs.

Pine Creek Board Holds Line on Sidney Arizona Tuition Fees
At the December 1 meeting Pine Creek School Division reviewed a report on cross district attendance with Beautiful Plains. The board reaffirmed prior resolutions denying transportation fees for Sidney Arizona students and funding tuition for those attending Beautiful Plains, noting existing Pine Creek transportation and facilities. The session also approved secondary student evaluation methods, adoption of an administration manual in principle, gratis eye tests for kindergarten and first graders, and a 48 passenger bus purchase from Stern Trucks pending finance board approval. It also authorized use of the Austin Collegiate gym by the Centennial Planning Committee.

The MacGregor Herald will skip next week as it runs a Christmas edition. It thanks advertisers, correspondents and news contributors and wishes readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The next issue will be January 8 with the office re opening Monday January 5 for regular service.

Lye Receives 50 Year Jewel at Temple Lodge Meeting
H A Lye was presented with a 50-year jewel at Temple Lodge AF and AM MacGregor for half a century of Lodge membership. Officers were installed for 1970 including Worshipful Master Robert R. Douglas and G C Fotheringham with Lye as organist under the ceremony led by Lye.
