Mr and Mrs Arthur Smallpiece celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a dinner and reception at the Elks hall on Sunday December 18. The couple married December 8 1898 near Bagot with Rev Cunningham officiating. They lived on a farm in the district then north of Portage before retiring to the city. They have nine children 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Gifts and congratulations came from many, including Her Majesty the Queen and Prime Minister Lester Pearson. 85 guests attended with Loyall Batters presiding as master of ceremonies.
Sympathy is extended to Mr and Mrs M Cookson on the death of his father at Neepawa aged 93 with funeral at Franklin and interment in the family plot.
