Manitou Wheat Urged For Next Manitoba Crop
Department of Agriculture officials urge Manitoba farmers to buy Manitou wheat for next year. Manitou outyielded Selkirk by up to 10 bushels per acre due to leaf rust resistance and thinner seeding last season. Manitou tends to grade higher, matures slightly later, and prices remain reasonable though demand from Saskatchewan and Alberta may raise costs. A seed survey shows much poor-quality seed. buying pedigreed seed is advised, especially for farmers lacking cleaning facilities.
