Austin and district residents visit Winnipeg relatives and travel east to join families. Curling begins with seventeen rinks in the Novelty Bonspiel. Community groups meet, dances and visits occur, and deer hunters return home after the season. Local church activities include White Gifts deliveries and Sunday School institutes.
Beaver Sunday School hosts a White Gift service on December 17 at 11 am with gifts of food clothing or money welcomed. The item notes visits by Harry Dankesreiter and sister Dolly Patterson of McAuley in Winnipeg for medical treatment and lists guests at Glen Harknes home including Ed Harkness Boddy Lois Harkness Oscar Domkey Roy Hark ness and Faith.
A December social at Springbrook School honored Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson. Hostesses Ms W Wicklund and Mrs G Bull led a lively evening with stunts and Twenty Questions by Nick Kowal. Santa Claus visited bearing gifts, and after lunch the Springbrook ladies hosted a dance.
Christ Church W A held its annual meeting at Mrs H S Atkins home on Wednesday in December. Mrs P Pea chaired and Mrs P Hanson kept minutes. Reports from treasurer social setup secretary J W A and Little Seekers showed a successful year. Officers elected for 1951 include President Mrs R Outhwaite and Vice President Mrs P Pears. Secretary Mrs HS Atkins Post Secretary Mrs P Hanson Treasurer Mrs M Randall Asst Treasurer Mrs H Gray TW A Superintendent Mrs H Atkins Social Service Sec Mrs H Gra Little Helpers Superintendent Mrs P Hanson.
The annual meeting of the .W.O. was held December 6 at the home of Mrs. S Young. Officers elected for the coming year include President Mrs. 8. Young Vice President Mrs. Thorgilsse Secretary Mrs. Roy naith Treasurer Mrs. Bruce Hay and Good Will Mrs. J. Stephenson. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. Dunh te announce the engagement of their daughter Edna Mele to Mr. James Jaeger with a December wedding planned at The Pas.
A series of family and friend visits span Pine Creek and nearby towns. Waf Begsey and Walter Hancharyk stopped by the Kuebler and Knox homes while Betty Williams visited Austin and James Knox Jr. in Minnitonas. Chalmers returned to Winnipeg after two weeks at the Kuebler home and various relatives shared Sunday visits and weekend hospitality in MacGregor Portage and Sidney communities.
David Booth spent the weekend with Garnet Pennell. Mr and Mrs J A Mitchell and Melba of Castle Point visited Sunday with Mr and Mrs G Snaith. Mr and Mrs S Moore and Harry were Sunday visitors with Mr and Mrs Carl Holliday. The Pennell party hosted Winnipeg visitors L R Pennell and Linda. Mrs P Scott visits Bagot with sister Mrs Dave Stevenson. Miss Belton plans to winter in Winnipeg. Mr W Belton resumes work at Gladstone after health issues. December WMS meeting at Mrs A Chant’s on Kigay with good attendance. Five dollar donations to Temperance Society Youth Movement in B C and United Chuck Girls Home Winnipeg. Lunch and social followed.
Mrs Art Johnston expresses appreciation for the many kindnesses, cards and visits received since her return, thanking friends and neighbors for their support during illness or absence.
